The Cox Homestead

These recordings were filmed in an abandoned home on Thanksgiving weekend 2023 on a rural property located in Monarch, Saskatchewan, Canada. The property is currently owned by Ashley’s in-laws - Allan and Pat - who gave her permission to do some paranormal investigating. The original home was built in the early 19th century by Ashleys husband, Chris’, great and great great grandfathers, Mark and Thomas Cox. Construction was completed in 1911. Marks father, Tom, passed away in the fall of that year after succumbing to illness. Mark and his wife, Elsie, then moved into the home to raise their children. Elsie abandoned the property in the early 1950’s after her husband, Mark, passed away. Many of their belongings can still be found inside of the home - including a neatly stacked pile of sympathy cards that Elsie had received after her husband passed away. The home has sat vacant since.

Mark & Elsie’s grandson, Allan, (Ashleys father-in-law) remembers spending time in the home as a boy. He now lives in a newer build on the property with his wife, Pat. They raised their their three children there. The property continues to be a gathering place for family celebrations.

On the night of this investigation, Ashley, her husband, Chris, Chris’ sister, Tanya, and their parents, Allan and Pat, were present and witnessed these paranormal interactions.

The Monarch graveyard sits on the North-East corner of the land. Mark, Elsie, and numerous other relatives were buried there. May they rest in peace.
