What is a Hand-Fasting Ceremony?
Hand-Fasting is a rural folkloric and Neopagan custom, initially founded in western European countries, in which a couple hold a ceremony to profess their love, loyalty and devotion to one another. Commitment Hand-Fasting ceremonies are intended to bring a couple closer together and sanctify their union. It is a beautiful and interesting way for a couple to profess their love for one another. Please note that a Hand-Fasting commitment ceremony is not a legal marriage. Instead, commitment ceremonies are intended to be seen as a “promise to wed”, a “devotion to one another” or as a charming way for existing couples to “renew their vows”. It is entirely up to you and your partner as to how you’d like to see it and which definition suits you best.
*If you would like to include a commissioner of marriage to take care of the legal requirements needed to make your ceremony a legal and binding marriage, that can be arranged for an additional cost. Those costs will vary depending on the marriage commissioner, location/date, travel fees (if required), etc. Mention your wish for a legal marriage when filling out the form or send an email to madebyarealwitch@gmail.com if you form has already been submitted and you would like to add this option.
What’s Included?
Hand-Fasting commitment ceremonies can be performed in person in the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan area. Ceremonies can also be conducted through distance using FaceTime, Zoom or Messenger Video Chat.
Each Ceremony includes a custom printed certificate, one devotional beeswax votive candle, lace ribbon, incense and other supplies.
About the officiate: Ashley is an active Wiccan Priestess, Pagan and dedicated White Witch who started on her path in 1995. In more recent years, she has dedicated and devoted her life to walking a Pagan path…practicing rituals and spell work of positive intent almost daily. Her Saskatchewan based practice is very gentle and nature based. The ceremony for this event has been thoughtfully written by Ashley herself who will walk you and your partner through the entire process. There is no need to feel nervous. Both participants must be 18+. Same sex couples, couples of mixed race and/or couples of different religious backgrounds are all welcome.
Pricing
Pre-booking consultations are mandatory and must be approved before any spell work, 3 question tarot card readings, or hand-fasting commitment ceremonies can be arranged. Consultations are an additional $15 plus provincial GST/HST over the cost of a ceremony and are non-refundable.
If a consultation fee applies to the type of service you want, submit your completed form, and you will be sent a $15 invoice by email. Etransfer payments can also be arranged. Once paid, your form will be reviewed in the order of payments received. You can expect to hear back from me via email within 2-3 weeks - but hopefully sooner. We will discuss the details of your ceremony at that time. If your form is approved, you will be sent an invoice to pay for your service at that time. If your request is declined, I will try to offer you a substitution. If no agreement can be made, we will go our separate ways at that time.
Hand-Fasting Ceremonies are $189.99 plus provincial GST/HST
Additional fees include: shipping supplies to you or mileage of .69 cents/km depending on whether you choose an in-person or distance ceremony. Plus the cost of hiring a commissioner of marriage to take care of the legal requirements if you are wanting your ceremony to be a legal and binding marraige.
