Reflection: What Lies Beneath

You chose where worlds meet — where reflection brings more than one world into view.

In early spring, the surface begins to change.

The light softens.
The air shifts.
And what was once still starts to hold movement again.

At the water’s edge, everything exists in layers.

Branches stretch above,
just beginning to bloom.

Their shape rests lightly on the surface —
held there for a moment, clear and complete.

And beneath it, something else moves.

The koi passes quietly through the water,
its form visible,
but softened by the surface it moves under.

It does not break the reflection.

It moves within it.

For a moment, both are seen at once.

What rests above.
What moves below.

Neither cancels the other.

What you see isn’t always the full picture.

There are times when things appear settled on the surface —
clear, easy to read, already formed.

And still, something else is moving underneath.

Not in conflict.
Not hidden.

Just… not immediately visible.

Spring has a way of revealing this.

Not by changing everything at once,
but by allowing more to be seen
if you take a second look.

You may find yourself in a moment like that now.

Where what you see feels certain —
and yet, there’s something more to it.

Something just beneath,
still shifting,
still becoming part of the whole.

Affirmation

I allow myself to look beyond what is immediately visible.

Closing Reflection

The surface does not tell the whole story.

It shows what it can —
clearly, beautifully, and without effort.

But it does not hold everything.

Some things move just beneath it,
shaping what will be seen next.

You don’t have to rush to understand it all at once.

Sometimes it’s enough to notice
that there is more there than you first thought.

And to let that be part of what you’re seeing.
