The story behind my Angel Wing Sun Catchers…
Many years ago, I was contacted by the spirit of an elderly woman. I'd had a falling out with my Spirit Guide, George, at the time...who promptly sent this woman in to smooth things over. For the purpose of this post I will call her Joan. Joan had connections to my Spirit Guide, his descendants, their work and other people who worked alongside them. She was an interesting character - although most of my memories of her have faded. I remember her laugh. I remember her eagerness to help. I remember her warmth and her love for her 'boys' who were/are still living. Joan was a mother and she had a genuine 'want' to fix things and make things right. Her antidote to most of life's problems was chicken soup...made from scratch...using bone broth and fresh vegetables/herbs from the garden. I can't tell you how many times I had gotten up - after having a conversation with Joan - and made a pot of bone broth soup...simply because she had talked about it so much that she made me hungry.
Joan had a hard time reaching the human realm and she struggled to be heard. Every time she spoke to me it sounded like she was yelling to me from the far end of a tunnel. I remember asking her why that was. My Spirit Guide, George, had no trouble reaching and communicating with me, so I found it interesting that it was such a hardship for Joan. Joan told me that for her - and many other spirits - trying to get back to the human realm was like trying to navigate through fog as thick as pea soup. It was a horrible, daunting task that she hated - much in the same way that many of us wouldn't want to drive in inclement weather. But Joan did it anyway, because George had asked her to. She did it anyway because she knew the messages were important. She did it anyway for the greater good of those involved.
During our conversations, Joan asked me if there was something I could craft to make it easier for spirits to find their way home. She asked me to craft a 'beacon' that would call to and direct spirits to finding their way. Not all spirits would need it, but some of them would. She then showed me the image of a lighthouse lighting the way for ships to safely come to shore and she asked me to create something similar. My Angel Wing Sun Catchers were what I came up with...along with the spell that I wrote to cast over them.
